Our client, a global contractor, are currently seeking a Survey Manager with tunnelling experience to work on a major infrastructure project in Vancouver.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible of the surveying including the preparation of the baseline and its approval, the update of the plan and coordination of the site activities to overview the progress of the phases of the project: engineering, designers, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate the surveying in terms of create the overall structure of the controlling system, coding of the activities/resources and create the structure to monitor the progress of the works, evaluate the deviations from the original plan and discuss with the management the actions to take to get back on schedule.
  • Assist all the department to have a precise picture of the progress of the works, dive the deadlines to achieve and coordinate the various phases of the project to get the final result of respecting the milestones of the project.
  • Manage the time evaluation in case of deviation from the original scope and assess the correct time impact analysis when needed:
  • Responsible of the survey department in terms of revenue progresses, develop criteria for survey methods and procedures, performance job-analysis and assist the design management to find the technical solution.
  • Preparation of the budget and its update
  • Coordination with the team and develop criteria for the design and modification of survey instruments.
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries.
  • Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge - Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to our job.
  • Communicating with Persons Outside Organization - Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Guiding, Directing, and Motivating Subordinates - Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Training and Teaching Others - Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing other
  • Estimating the Quantifiable Characteristics of Products, Events, or Information - Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Repairing and Maintaining Electronic Equipment - Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or
  • testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
  • Documenting/Recording Information - Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
  • Performing Administrative Activities - Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.

Essential Functions

  • Oversight of project work during the various phases of the project, in terms of controlling cost and time, coordinating the planning, control team.
  • Supervising and managing the work of survey.
  • Report to top management regarding the status of the project giving information to allow take technical decisions to achieve targets.
  • Maintain the relationships and coordination with the stakeholders including the members of the JV, Client and third parties involved in the project.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in team and manage complex international projects.
  • Planning and control skills in terms of techniques and general principles.
  • Ability to perform technical reviews, leaderships, instructions.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and provide solutions.
  • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or similar with skills in survey and technical design.
  • Monitory systems, technology, developments, post-processing, valuations, interpretation, and final analysis.
  • Significant experience in long tunnel traverse (more of 8 km), implantation network, observation correction, post-processing and analyzing; Gyroscope calibration, observation, valuation and determination of the “local gyro deviation E-value”.
  • Post as-build and updating of the BIM.
