We are currently seeking a dynamic Design Manager to lead our client’s Major Projects Programme in Hawkes Bay. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership in engineering design, ensuring that projects not only meet but exceed expectations, delivering outstanding results at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Transportation Engineering Design:

  • Define project scope and steer the technical direction of major projects.
  • Champion innovation and precision in engineering design.

Manage Technical Deliverables:

  • Ensure supplier design outcomes align with project objectives.
  • Guide technical decision-making and manage change processes effectively.

Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Governance:

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Engage with governance structures to ensure project alignment.

Prioritize Safety:

  • Support Safety in Design and constructability reviews to ensure efficient, safe, and maintainable designs.
  • Protect worker and public safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Support Procurement Activities:

  • Aid in strategic procurement planning and risk management.
  • Prepare contract documents, including technical specifications.

Drive Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and project teams to enhance processes across the project's lifecycle.
  • Promote continuous improvement at both the project and programme levels.

Information Management and Project Development:

  • Serve as the key contact for programme information management requirements.
  • Review suppliers' Project Information Management Plans and Milestone Deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent, specializing in Transport Engineering.
  • Extensive project design experience, demonstrating leadership in design outcomes across various civil engineering disciplines on large infrastructure projects
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in digital design delivery and BIM requirements.
  • Experience in procurement planning and construction monitoring of large infrastructure projects
  • Exceptional prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex matters accurately and clearly.
