Our client, a civils contractor in Maryland is seeking an Estimator for groundworks, utilities, and paving projects in the region. The Estimator will be responsible for accurate job costing and collaborating with Operations to ensure compliance with the negotiated estimate, scope of work, and contract terms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation of Estimates:
- Prepare cost estimates using estimating software.
- Coordinate with assistant estimators for quantity takeoffs.
- Create and submit contract proposals summarizing cost estimates, scope of work, and specific terms.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture and participate in pre-planning meetings.
Proposal Follow-Up:
- Engage clients post-proposal submission to address queries and secure commitment.
- Negotiate scope and pricing to align with the client's budget.
Contract Administration:
- Negotiate and agree on contract terms.
- Oversee project execution to ensure adherence to contract terms.
- Maintain records of changes, assist in collections, and process payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Coordinate with the accounting department for cost accounting and forecasting.
Education & Experience:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
- Alternative: 5-8 years of estimating experience in infrastructure and civil engineering
- Essential skills: Proficiency in estimating software, blueprint reading, and strong math and science skills.
