Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Project Engineer to join their dynamic team in Queenstown. In this role, you will oversee and support various project operations, ensuring successful execution in line with contract requirements. You’ll work closely with supervisors, project managers, and key stakeholders to optimise resource utilisation, maintain high quality standards, and achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of project outcomes by managing subcontractors and ensuring work is completed to required quality standards and within agreed timeframes.
  • Coordinate and maintain all project documentation, including contracts, claims, bonds, and supplier agreements.
  • Monitor and control project costs, investigate any discrepancies, and implement strategies to maximise resource efficiency.
  • Develop and implement construction methodologies, detailed budgets, and project schedules.
  • Establish and nurture effective working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering technical development and team capability.
  • Champion a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are consistently met.

Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Site Engineer or Project Engineer role, ideally within infrastructure or civil construction projects.
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, project planning, and scheduling tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience leading teams and managing subcontractors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and build effective stakeholder relationships.
