Position Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civils projects and possess strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills. Rail experience would be a bonus
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for heavy civils projects, including roads, bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and specifications to accurately estimate quantities of materials, labour, and equipment required for projects.
- Analyse project specifications and contract terms to identify potential risks, variations, and opportunities for cost savings or value engineering.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing information, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project costs, expenditures, and variations, and prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, and financial statements to track project performance and profitability.
- Assist in the preparation of interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts, and participate in contractual negotiations and dispute resolution processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying and cost management, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in heavy civils projects, with a strong understanding of construction cost management principles and practices.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
