We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Engineer to join a Geotechnical Consultancy in the Auckland area. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and executing geotechnical projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are maintained. This position requires a strong background in geotechnical engineering, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
    • Prepare and review project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Conduct site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical testing.
    • Analyse geotechnical data and perform engineering calculations to design foundations, retaining structures, and other geotechnical systems.
    • Provide technical guidance and recommendations for construction activities based on geotechnical findings.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including analysis, interpretations, and recommendations.
    • Review and approve technical reports, drawings, and specifications prepared by junior engineers.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Client Relations:
    • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and develop new business opportunities.
    • Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry conferences as needed.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures on project sites.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering
    • Proven track record of successfully managing complex geotechnical projects.
