We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Engineer to join a Geotechnical Consultancy in the Auckland area. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and executing geotechnical projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are maintained. This position requires a strong background in geotechnical engineering, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
- Prepare and review project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Technical Expertise:
- Conduct site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical testing.
- Analyse geotechnical data and perform engineering calculations to design foundations, retaining structures, and other geotechnical systems.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations for construction activities based on geotechnical findings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including analysis, interpretations, and recommendations.
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings, and specifications prepared by junior engineers.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Client Relations:
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and develop new business opportunities.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry conferences as needed.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures on project sites.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex geotechnical projects.
