Purpose
The purpose of the Transport Rebuild East Coast Alliance (TREC) is to restore the state highway and railway networks in the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne Regions impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle. Furthermore, the alliance exists to build resilience into the network to minimise the impacts of future events. The alliance’s purpose is to ensure a regional centric approach that respects and engages with iwi, council, regional suppliers to support a local recovery.
The purpose for this position is to:
- Organise or action surveying requirements on the contracts / projects to ensure work is carried out to the contract programme and specification
- Mentoring and training junior and intermediate surveyors in core values and general surveying best practice
- Ensure that all survey work carries the highest level of survey quality
Responsibilities
- Determine and arrange appropriate survey methodology and equipment
- Set up appropriate systems to collate, calculate and present gathered survey information
- Ensure surveys and set out are completed using appropriate controls and levels of accuracy
- Collation of quantities for preparation of monthly progress claims and subcontractor payments
- Set out as required by current programme to enable construction of the work to the specified standard
- As-built pickup of the works
- Design and present minor alterations
- Ensuring sufficient evidence through survey is gathered to support claims and variations
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all parties affected by contract
- Ensure survey team is provided with adequate resources for the performance of their duties
- Maintain and feed the systems to collate, calculate and present gathered survey information
- Set performance expectations with survey team and monitor performance and address any issues
- Commitment and compliance to all elements of the Alliance Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Ensure all paperwork and documentation systems associated with survey teams activities are maintained to a high level of accuracy
- Consult and influence across the wider Alliance team to reinforce ‘best for project’ decisions
- Perform other duties as directed from time to time as directed
- Champion safety leadership and support the implementation of EHS procedures in division and the wider business and participate in site quality requirements to achieve project quality goals
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience (with at least 5 years in infrastructure)
- Modern civil software (Civil3D, Trimble Business Centre etc)
- Leica or Trimble Total Stations, GNSS
- Experience managing teams, subcontractors and stakeholders
- Competent user of Microsoft Office suite
- Highly organised with an innate ability to problem solve
- Ability to influence and facilitate difficult discussions, handle conflict and work under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills that enable the building of effective relationships with key personnel, including supporting teams at the senior management level
- Ability to champion and promote Alliance principles and influence others
- Promotion of high levels of collaboration, connectivity and standardised work practices
