Job Summary: As a Site Engineer based in Auckland, New Zealand, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of construction projects. Working closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and according to design specifications. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and strong communication skills will be essential in delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination:

    • Collaborate with project managers to understand project goals, timelines, and budgets.
    • Assist in the development and review of project plans and schedules.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  2. Site Management:

    • Supervise and monitor construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and design specifications.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and assessments to identify and resolve issues promptly.
    • Maintain accurate and organized site documentation, including daily reports, progress records, and safety logs.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Perform quality control checks to ensure that workmanship and materials meet the specified standards.
    • Address and rectify any defects or deviations from the design.
  4. Health and Safety:

    • Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure that all workers and subcontractors adhere to safety regulations.
    • Conduct safety meetings, risk assessments, and hazard identification to minimize on-site incidents.
  5. Technical Support:

    • Provide technical expertise and solutions to construction challenges as they arise.
    • Collaborate with architects and engineers to resolve design issues and modifications.
  6. Communication:

    • Maintain clear and effective communication channels between project stakeholders, including the project team, clients, and subcontractors.
    • Update project managers regularly on progress, challenges, and changes.
  7. Cost Management:

    • Assist in tracking project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and report any budget overruns.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience as a Site Engineer in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and practices.
  • Experience in construction or rehabilitation of roads would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Familiarity with construction regulations and safety standards in New Zealand.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
