Our client, a leading contractor in New Zealand, are currently recruiting for a Temporary Works Engineer, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and implementation of temporary structures and systems that support construction activities. You will collaborate closely with project teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective temporary works solutions across a range of civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review temporary works including scaffolding, formwork, propping, shoring, and access systems.
- Liaise with site teams to integrate temporary works into construction methodology.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand standards and health & safety regulations.
- Provide engineering input during construction phases and attend site inspections.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and innovation in temporary works.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Coordinate with permanent works designers to ensure compatibility and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience with piling, scaffolding, formwork, retained structures, and heavy lifting.
- Experience with NZ, UK, or Australian contractors is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site operations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a focus on safety and innovation.
